| Known as "gun"
or "chipbreaker" taps. These taps are primarily used in through holes,
as the angled point will shoot the chips forward. The chips do not
get clogged in the flutes or restrict coolant flow. Spiral point taps
have narrower and shallower flutes, resulting in a larger core, and
a stronger tap. They can be used on all materials and are the best
production taps. Bottoming spiral point taps must be used in through
holes or where the hole has sufficient depth for the chips to accumulate. |
